Temporary closure from 5 October

Dear Carlbeck Users

We regret that the centre is closed until further notice. As soon as we have some positive news for you we will let you know.

In the meantime, please try to keep in touch with others, and if you have a mobile phone able to download WhatsApp,  Carlbeck has a group of over 30 members you are welcome to join – just let Margaret Dent know.

Very best wishes everyone

Carlbeck Management Committee

Temporary Closure and how to keep in touch

Dear Friends of Carlbeck

Re: Coronavirus
We take the health and safety and wellbeing of all our friends and visitors very seriously, and, as such, we want to reassure you that we are following the guidance from Public Health England. The risk is currently low in County Durham, however we are considering the position of the centre in relation to the likelihood of spread of infection. We have referred to available information including The Coronovirus Action Plan, produce by Gov.uk

The health and wellbeing of all our users is a priority and our main concern, as the committee, arises from the demographic of the vast majority of users of the facility. It has been widely reported from Public Health official documentation that those over the age of 60 with respiratory difficulties or other underlying health issues leading to a compromised immune system would be at greatest risk from the Covid19 virus.

Accordingly, the Committee has taken the very difficult decision to close the Carlbeck Centre to groups from 8am on Monday 16 March 2020. Whilst we appreciate that this may be a disappointing and upsetting decision, we do feel that it has been taken with the interests of all our friends, supporters and group members at its heart.

We very much hope that everyone can fully understand the reasons behind this decision and we will be back in touch with details of our re-opening date as soon as we feel it is in the best interests of all to do so.
Thank you for your continuing support,

Yours sincerely,

Jane Wilkinson, Chair of Carlbeck School-Lunedale Community Association

Christmas Craft Fair – thank you!

A massive thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to yet another successful Carlbeck Christmas Craft Fair.

We had a busy day with lots of visitors, many of whom are regular friends and some of whom were new, which always makes us happy. As usual there was a wide range of unique handmade items and many satisfied customers who stocked up on gifts, not only for those on their list, but also some treats for themselves. The kitchen team was kept very busy throughout the day serving up the mouth-watering cakes, scones, and savoury treats made by Carlbeck’s volunteers.
£662.25 was raised for Carlbeck funds.
Thank you all once more.
Margaret
